Sell Your Soul To The Devilstrip

devilstrip

I like American rock bands, a lot of my albums over the years have been imported from the US when they haven’t been available over here in the UK, especially when the band hasn’t always had the exposure they deserve outside of the States.

One such band I came across via Twitter was a 3 piece rock band from Akron, Ohio by the name of Devilstrip. A listen on RevebNation to the track Go from their debut album Rise which was released 1st August, confirmed that Devilstrip were just my kind of band. Formed in 2013 Marc Wasmund (Vocals, guitar) Graig Lindgren (Bass) Jimmy Gray (Drums) have been steadily gaining support with a number of shows and have also joined Buckcherry on tour in the last year.

Time To Hunt Down BlackWolf

4-Panel-CD-DigiPak-with-Tunnel-Pocket-Template

I always listen to The New Rock Show on Planet Rock as Wyatt Wendels features 5 new artists each Saturday that are not heard during the day and it is an excellent opportunity to listen to some great bands that are probably new to many of those that tune into the show. So when Wyatt played the BlackWolf single Moving Mountains a couple of weeks ago, I really liked how they sounded and I wanted to hear more of them.

Andrew Foster Live At Castle Street Festival, Portsmouth

Andrew Foster Live

09.08.2014

Having released the brilliant debut album last month Science & Magic, Andrew Foster, a very talented singer-songwriter from the South Coast here in the UK has certainly been making his mark by playing a string of shows over the summer. With support slots for James Walsh (Starsailor) and Terry Reid, he has also played the Isle Of Wight Festival, The London Folkfest, Alsager Musical Festival and the O2 Academy 2 in London along with many over local events.

Massive Are Gonna Rock Until The Encore

Massive

Formed in Melbourne in 2012, Massive describe themselves as a deadly 8 legged Aussie rock-monster that isn’t for the faint-hearted and Full Throttle certainly backs up that claim, with Brad Marr (Vocals, Guitar), Ben Laguda (Lead Guitar), Aidan McGarrigle (Bass) and Jarrod Medwin (Drums) producing a turbo-charged rock album that engulfs the senses from the very first play and this album has 15 tracks of rock at its very best.

The Dirty Thrills Album Won’t Sit Around And Gather Dust

Dirty Thrills

With the debut self-titled Dirty Thrills album on general release it is time to remind everyone why this is an album to buy if you like your music full of blues and rock with a powerful vocal that just blows you away. If you missed my previous post about how great Dirty Thrills sound then this review of the album will hopefully give you an idea why I love the sound of this band so much.

Tax The Heat Can Do No Wrong

TaxTheHeat-VINYL-EP

Tax The Heat have been generating a lot of interest over recent months with Fed To The Lions and Devil’s Daughter gaining some much deserved airplay and from their live performances especially over the summer. I recently had the pleasure of seeing them perform live at a support slot on the Black Star Riders UK tour and I could see for myself why this band based in Bristol are being talked about so much as it was an electrifying live set.

With Rival Sons, Good Things Will Happen

rival_sons_the_great_western_valkyrie

Having spent the last decade in a period I term the dark ages I have finally come to my senses and rediscovered the main passion in my life which is music. During this time where music was very much lacking in my life there have probably been many great bands I have missed out on and one of those bands are Rivals Sons. Having already released 3 previous albums it was only this year that I heard them due to some airplay on radio stations over here in the UK from their latest album Great Western Valkyrie and I immediately loved the retro vibe this band produce, which debuted in the UK in the Top 20 of the albums charts and sticking 2 fingers up to those that say rock music is dead.

What Better Than Some Dirty Thrills

Dirty Thrills

My love of discovering new bands that you just instantly get a real buzz from hearing them has to be one of the best things in life and so it was great to come across the Dirty Thrills, a rock band based in London. This was a band full of dirty riffs, addictive bass and drums that had a bluesy rock sound with vocals to die for. Louis James (Vocals), Jack Fawdry (Guitar), Aaron Plows (Bass), and Stevo Corrigan (Drums) not only are the epitome of how rock band should look but the sound of them also made them one of the bands to watch.

Davy’s Gripp Live At Jack Rabbit Slims, Bognor Regis

Davy's Gripp

26.07.2014

This weekend of the 26th and 27th July the seaside resort of Bognor Regis is hosting its 24th annual Rox Festival held across 6 venues hosting around 100 artists, various DJ sets and workshops. Jack Rabbit Slims on the seafront was one of the venues with 24 artists featured there over the weekend and with all the live music happening there was only one band out of the entire event that I wanted to see and they were Davy’s Gripp.
