Well Hung Heart

California based Well Hung Heart have just released their latest self-titled 5 track EP.

The rock/ garage/blues trio of singer Greta Valenti, guitarist Robin Davy and Kevin Conroy on drums have released an EP that grabs you by the balls even if you don’t possess a pair, right from the opening notes of ‘Throw It All Away’ and doesn’t let go until the final note plays out. With infectious riffs, melodies and hooks, which take on a fuzzy deeper tone at times, and having seem the band play a stunning live set when they were last in the UK, this is entirely down to the massive sound Robin can make with just a guitar and a few amps. With a rhythm that literally pounds its way through the EP, the vocals of Greta are the icing on the cake in every song, as they powerfully soar over the hard rock sound.

With the killer riffs on ‘Touch The Sky’ that compliment the chorus, this is a EP that sounds filthy, heavy and totally superb on every track. Even the more delicate ‘Play Me A Song’ still becomes a lush soundscape, as they lyrics beautifully entwine themselves through the melodic guitars, all delivered in an impressive style with Greta’s spellbinding voice. Picking up the pace with ‘Lights Out’, this has a garage rock stamp all over it as it stomps its way through in a little over 2 minutes with a resounding force, before final track ‘Killing Time’ drops into a more rock/blues kind of vibe, as the vocals take on a delicious edge to rock up the final track to the max.

If you have yet to come across Well Hung Heart, then now is the time to get to know them, as their latest release is so excellent it has to be a serious contender for EP of the year.
