Malvern in Worcestershire isn’t always the first town that springs to mind when thinking of bands that have made an impact in the world of music. Admittedly there was that pop wannabe clone in a music talent contest and I use the word talent with some sarcasm, a few years back but I along with some of residents of the town would probably rather gloss over that fact. However that is all about to change with a new band Nuns of the Tundra.

Scottish rock band Estrella are about to release their latest single ‘Here I Am’ on 24th November from their highly anticipated second album which is due for release in May 2015. With the single being recently featured in Classic Rock Magazine’s Top Ten Tracks of the week last month, Estrella are definitely the band to watch.

Having seen Buffalo Summer in another support slot earlier in the year and playing a truly brilliant set then, they were a major influence in booking my run of gigs when then were announced as support for the Treatment, and looking at the crowd at the Underworld in London where I saw them play last night, I wasn’t the only one going by the amount of Buffalo Summer T-shirts on show.

Having released their album Full Throttle this year in Europe which has to be one of the best rock albums in 2014, Massive have made their way to the UK and are on tour with The Treatment. Having crossed the country, tonight it was the turn of London to witness this deadly 8-legged Aussie rock monster at their very best.

Although originally from New Zealand, Rival State this year upped sticks and moved to London in order to seek more opportunities. Not that New Zealand is in the back of beyond but the UK has some of the best rock in the world and is also a handy little Island for exporting that rock into Europe and a far bigger audience.

On Saturday Portsmouth had a charity event hosted by Ready To Rock School in aid of The Alzheimer’s Society. The show under the title of Rock Originals had four bands on the line-up tonight, each different but all of them featuring great rock music.

Since releasing their self-titled debut album in 2010, Los Angeles based band Love and a.38 have gained a steady following with their blend of huge riffs and gritty rock vocals. Melodic and dynamic with slight influences of alternative and southern sounds across their songs, it is fast paced full on rock.

London based band Cairo Son have certainly been making a name for themselves over the last few months. Featured on The New Rock Show on Planet Rock just over a month ago it gave music fans like me a chance to hear just how great this band sound. A rock band with huge heavy riffs, thumping bass and pounding drums behind melodic vocals made me instantly take notice of them.
