Four piece Sons Of Icarus have achieved a lot since winning the Marshall Amplifiers’ ‘Ultimate Band Contest’ in December 2010, which led to opening slots for Download and Sonisphere in 2011.This has led to further festival appearances over recent years and has seen them support a whole host of major bands such as Black Stone Cherry, Clutch, Rival Sons, Orange Goblin and most recently The Cadillac Three in London as part of their UK tour.

It has been a momentous year for Tax The Heat with appearances at Download, Calling Festival and for a second year in a row Planet RockStock as well as support slots for Black Star Riders, The Virginmarys and The Graveltones, a special headline show in Bristol and named as support for the Thunder tour next year, all this from a band that has yet to release a debut album. Such is the strength of their live performances that many rock fans go to see them play and last night the band were on excellent form for their final gig of the year.

Rivals Sons may have announced their UK tour 6 months ago but it was very much worth the wait to see them on the first date of their sold out UK tour that wraps up an extensive set of dates that has seen the band perform in Europe, US and Canada throughout the latter part of the year.

Danish rock band Volbeat made a first time visit to the city of Portsmouth tonight and being the only south coast date and the penultimate date of their UK tour, it was a packed venue that came out to see them. With the odd Viking hat, a few fellow danes in the crowd and a mass of Volbeat attire, the crowd cheered as ‘Let’s Shake The Dust’ introduced the band onto the stage.
