Portsmouth based 4 piece Foxer launched onto the music scene in 2013 and since then the band have been gaining a steady following with both their music and their live performances. Band members Chris, Roy, Sam and Jack not only have a strong work ethic but with their song-writing skills they also bring a fresh approach to rock.

South West based 3 piece Grifter have achieved a lot since they formed 10 years ago. Being one of the first bands to be signed to Ripple Music after the label heard only their 2nd EP, their self-titled debut album ‘Grifter’ was released in 2011 to critical acclaim which was picked up by Metal Hammer and Classic Rock who both featured tracks from the band and numerous radio stations around the world played their songs.

Southampton based singer-songwriter David Blackbourn has just recorded his debut EP ‘Impulses’ which is due for release in January 2015. With a mixture of songs that showcase the talents of this up and coming musician, every song on the EP tells a story with the lyrics being the central point of the songs interlaced with sometimes gentle, sometimes raw and entirely melodic music. With vocals that convey a whole range of emotions perfectly, ‘Impulses’ is certainly a brilliant sounding debut EP.

Brighton based Death Ape Disco, formed in 2011 or 8000BC depending which version you believe on their Facebook page, have been gaining a lot of interest and with their music full of riff-laden rock along with great vocals and harmonies, it is easy to see why especially with release of their brilliant ‘Supervolcano’ in 2013.

Malvern in Worcestershire isn’t always the first town that springs to mind when thinking of bands that have made an impact in the world of music. Admittedly there was that pop wannabe clone in a music talent contest and I use the word talent with some sarcasm, a few years back but I along with some of residents of the town would probably rather gloss over that fact. However that is all about to change with a new band Nuns of the Tundra.

Although originally from New Zealand, Rival State this year upped sticks and moved to London in order to seek more opportunities. Not that New Zealand is in the back of beyond but the UK has some of the best rock in the world and is also a handy little Island for exporting that rock into Europe and a far bigger audience.

Since releasing their self-titled debut album in 2010, Los Angeles based band Love and a.38 have gained a steady following with their blend of huge riffs and gritty rock vocals. Melodic and dynamic with slight influences of alternative and southern sounds across their songs, it is fast paced full on rock.

London based band Cairo Son have certainly been making a name for themselves over the last few months. Featured on The New Rock Show on Planet Rock just over a month ago it gave music fans like me a chance to hear just how great this band sound. A rock band with huge heavy riffs, thumping bass and pounding drums behind melodic vocals made me instantly take notice of them.
